BookEasy and Book Data Announce CDe
Partnership
Collaboration
leverages CD-ROM links to Web-based
inquiry and ordering service
Somerset, NJ - November 10, 1998 - BookEasyä and Book Data, one of the
UK's largest bibliographic data providers, announced a partnership to provide users of
Book Data's CDe service with direct links to BookEasy Affiliate sites. BookEasy, a
subsidiary of VISTA Computer Services, is the fast growing online ordering and inquiry
service.
CDe is Book Data's powerful new online bibliographic
facility with information on over 2.5 million English language titles from around the
world. The difficulty of obtaining the true status of a title has been one of the
longest-standing complaints of booksellers. Now CDe users in more than 100 countries
worldwide benefit from linking their CD-ROM's ease-of-use with the immediacy of access to
BookEasy Affiliates operational data and e-commerce services.
Beginning this November, Book Data's CDe service will be
enhanced further by daily updates to US titles from the complete Baker & Taylor
inventory database. Information is generated on a daily basis by Baker & Taylor and
incorporated via the Internet into the online CDe database within hours. US stock flagging
has long been an attractive feature of Book Data's international CD-ROMs and the daily
feed ensures up-to-date information.

Current UK BookEasy Affiliates live on the Internet
include; Macmillan Distribution, Exel Logistics, Marston Book Services, Bookpoint, TBS
(Random House) and Grantham Book Services. HarperCollins, John Wiley & Sons Ltd and
Littlehampton Book Services, are due to go live this winter.
In the United States, Affiliates scheduled to go live
include Von Holtzbrinck Publishing Services (Henry Holt, Farrar Straus & Giroux, St.
Martin's Press, and Tor, among others), Broadman & Holman, the trade publishing
subsidiary of Lifeway Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention, and National
Book Network, the second largest book distributor in the US.
