PENGUIN JOINS PUBEASY.COM

London, England, March 19, 1999 -- PubEasy.com announced today that Penguin, one of the UK’s leading trade publishing groups and a Pearson Company, has agreed to join its fast-growing Internet ordering and inquiry service with plans to go-live by June of 1999. PubEasy.com now provides booksellers with real- time access over the Internet to price and availability information on more than 700 publishers and imprints.

When Penguin’s PubEasy.com ecommerce web site goes live, booksellers around the world will be provided access to daily updated price and availability information on Penguin titles, and be able to securely place and track orders over the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week directly with Penguin.

The full range of Penguin imprints will be represented, including Allen Lane, Hamish Hamilton, Michael Joseph, Penguin, Penguin Classics, Penguin Reference, Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics, Rough Guides (in which Penguin is a majority share holder), Viking and children’s imprints Puffin, Ladybird and Frederick Warne.

Penguin joins Bookpoint, Exel Logistics, HarperCollins Publishers Ltd, John Wiley & Sons Ltd, Littlehampton Book Services, Macmillan Distribution Ltd, Marston Book Services and TBS/Grantham Book Services as an Affiliate of the PubEasy.com ecommerce network. The PubEasy.com service recently added its first "live" US Affiliate, Broadman & Holman, trade publishing subsidiary of LifeWay Christian Resources. Additional US Affiliate sites scheduled to launch include Von Holtzbrinck Publishing Services (Henry Holt, St. Martin’s Press and Farrar Straus & Giroux), and National Book Network.
